HSC Squash News

We plan to keep the members informed of what’s going on in the squash section from time to time through a news emailer.

  • Success on court for both teams who are unbeaten and top of their respective leagues. Well done to team captains Dean and Joel and your playing squads. Good luck for the rest of the season!
  • We have already announced a schedule of competitions and Dan West is running his fun squash event on 26th November. Also keep an eye out shortly for entries for a further fun doubles afternoon/evening in the Christmas holidays.
  • Court temperature, you may have noticed that the radiators have been cranked up as we aim to make sure that the courts and surrounding area are kept at an ambient temperature throughout the winter. We are monitoring how effective they are and at the same time mindful of energy costs, so may need to tweak the hours that the heating is on. We will continue to look at alternatives should they not be effective enough.
  • The changing rooms is another area we are monitoring in this case, too stuffy and consistent problems with the showers, which we have been advised will be sorted soon.
  • All three courts had the back walls serviced to make sure they are true and stable and at the same time the floors were sanded. We are currently getting quotes to repair the major sidewall crack on court one. Not forgetting the flickering light on court two was replaced.
  • Are you looking to improve your game? Vince Lawrence is available for coaching all ages and abilities on an individual or group basis vinnylawrence007@gmail.com
  • Please remember that the courts are your courts and we must all look after them. Please keep to the correct footwear and no dirty shoes worn outside and don’t be afraid to point this out to others! We would also like to encourage you to make sure that the fans are on when you play to try and keep condensation down to a minimum. These can operated from the main control panel by the entry door.

As you can see lots going as we try to make sure that you all enjoy your squash on the best courts around as part of a busy club.

Please feel free to make any suggestions via The Club Office.
