Important notice for all squash members

Dear Member,

We need to write to you for a couple of reasons concerning player welfare and court care.

Squash is a very intensive sport and it does involve the risk of injury, from racket contact, ball contact as well as contact with the court itself. Your safety is paramount and we need each and everyone one of our members and guests to keep the chance of injury to a minimum. In the unfortunate event of any form of accident on court, please make the office or the bar aware of the incident so it can be logged.

Friday 30th May Court 3 will be closed all day for the sanding down and relining of the floor, following damage. Court 1 will be closed until 12.15pm on the same day to carry snagging work on the newly plastered walls.

Our aim is to have the best courts available in the area. These courts should be treated as your courts as a member and therefore, we should also take responsibility to look after them. We have just gone to a great expense to repair the floor and walls to Court 1 and there was a delay in the reopening of it owing to damage to the back wall. In the meantime, the floor on Court 3 has been damaged owing to an old grip of a racket crumbling and being trodden into the floor and marking it badly. Black soled shoes are still being worn, which not only mark the floor but also bring in dirt from outdoor use. Do not be afraid to challenge any offenders as they are your courts!

With this in mind, please note, players will be liable for any damage caused to the floors by disintegrating grips or wearing the incorrect footwear.

Please help us look after the courts and stay safe.

Regards

The Squash Committee
